About ASK

Ask: Research and Methods is a peer-reviewed academic journal devoted to the methodology of social science research.  Since 1995, its mission is to publish innovative work in the social sciences that focuses on methodological issues inherent to all phases of social research. ASK welcomes articles on a broad range of topics and a variety of methodologies including, but not limited to: operationalization of concepts, sampling, interviewing, observation and other fieldwork issues, quantitative and qualitative techniques, research ethics, data management and archiving, and methods of cross-national comparisons.

Beginning in 1995, ASK has been a production of the Institute of Philosophy and Sociology (IFiS) of the Polish Academy of Sciences. Since 2014, ASK is published by The Ohio State University Libraries in partnership with the Institute of Philosophy and Sociology of the Polish Academy of Sciences. ASK receives organizational support from Cross-National Studies: Interdisciplinary Research and Training Program (CONSIRT).

ASK provides immediate Open Access to content on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge. In order to lower barriers to publication for authors, ASK does not charge submission or any other form of author fees.
